This website is operated by Carolyn Haliburton Carter, Ed.D., trading as The Kitchen Genealogist. This policy explains what happens to information you send through it.
What the site collects
The site sets no advertising cookies, runs no third-party analytics, and does not track visitors between sites. Fonts are served from the site’s own domain rather than loaded from a third party.
The inquiry form
If you complete the inquiry form, the details you type — your name, email address, phone number, organization, inquiry type, project description, any names, locations and dates you supply, your timeline, how you heard about Dr. Carter, and your preferred contact method — are used solely to respond to your inquiry.
At present no form delivery service is connected to this site. While that is the case, submitting the form transmits and stores nothing at all: the form validates your entries in your own browser and then tells you plainly that it was not sent, and asks you to use email or telephone instead. When a delivery service is connected, this section must be updated to name it.
Information you should not send
Please do not submit Social Security numbers, financial records, passwords, DNA testing account credentials, or other highly sensitive personal information through this website. If such information is genuinely relevant to a research engagement, Dr. Carter will agree a secure means of sharing it with you directly.
Family research material
Documents and family information shared in the course of a research engagement are treated as confidential and handled in line with professional records-management practice. Research about your family is not published or shared with anyone else without your agreement.

Media, publication and repository links lead to websites operated by other organizations. Their privacy practices are their own.
